Windsor Park offers a specialised Aboriginal and homeless aged care program.
Windsor Park is made up of two houses, once of which provides specialised care programs for residents with complex care needs. Both houses have large activity rooms, quiet rooms, lounge rooms and extensive shaded gardens with outdoor barbecue areas.
The team at Windsor Park Aged Care Home have won three Commonwealth Better Practice Awards from the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency. This prestigious national award recognises outstanding innovations in care.
The 2018 Better Practice Award celebrated the Back to Country Program, which assists Aboriginal care recipients to return to their regional and desert communities. Working with the home’s Aboriginal Health Coordinator Wendy Ashwin, the program has assisted 12 Aboriginal people to return to their communities throughout Western Australia. The program consists of evaluating whether the person’s health condition can be stabilised and rehabilitated to a level of fitness and independence where they would be able to return to their home.
The 2016 Better Practice Award acknowledged the home’s Culturally Valid Care Program for Aboriginal people. Developed over the course of a decade and utilising evidence-based practice and strong links to key community and research groups, the initiative is a crucial part of improving the wellbeing of Aboriginal care recipients.
The 2013 Better Practice Award acknowledged the home’s Workplace Harmonisation program, which successfully transformed the culture of the home and reduced conflict and tension between staff. Through engaging key training organisations to provide staff and managers with the skills to manage issues collaboratively, the team were able to increase staff retention and create a happier environment within the home.

The Windsor Park Aged Care Home Benefits
From the care we provide to the relationships we build.
For your peace of mind, we provide 24-hour care by registered nurses who are supported by a dedicated team of enrolled nurses and personal carers. We have the expertise to assist with complex care requirements, and will always discuss your care with you and your family.
In recognition of our very high standards of care and services, Windsor Park has been fully accredited by the Australian Government meeting all 44 of the expected outcomes.
Staying active and socialising is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Our activity program changes each month, but will always include bus trips and outings, arts and crafts, movie days and theme days. We have a number of volunteers supporting our home and have regular musical performances, fetes, raffles and visits from school groups.
Our activity program includes bus trips, visiting entertainers, and celebrations for Melbourne Cup, Easter, Mother’s and Father’s Day, Christmas and the AFL Grand Final, as well as a happy hour every Friday.
Centrally located and just 15 minutes’ drive from the city, Windsor Park is easily accessible by bus and train. Friends and relatives are welcome to visit at any time for a cup of tea and a chat, and there are parks and a coffee shop close by that are perfect for outings.
Your room will be furnished for you, but we encourage you to bring personal belongings such as photographs and soft furnishings to help you feel at home. There are television sets that you can watch in our common rooms, but you are welcome to bring you own television or radio if you wish.
Enjoying a variety of delicious, nutritionally balanced meals is an important part of maintaining good health. From our central kitchen, our executive chef, sous chef and dietician create menus that provide variety and maximum nutritional value without compromising on taste. We offer choices of hot and cold meals, cater for allergies, intolerances and culturally-specific needs, and create a special menu for a theme day each month.

The cost of aged care is dependent on your circumstances and is different for everyone. The cost of your care and accommodation at Windsor Park can include the following:
Basic daily fee
This covers living costs such as meals, power and laundry. For some people, this is the only fee they are required to pay.
This fee is set by the Department of Human Services at 85% of the single pension and is indexed in March and September each year. To read the latest schedule of fees and charges go to the Department of Health website.
Means-tested care fee
This is an additional contribution towards to the cost of your care that some people are required to pay, and is based on an assessment of your income and assets.
Accommodation payment
This charge covers your accommodation at Windsor Park and is based on an assessment of your income and assets.
You can choose to make your accommodation payments as either:
– a lump sum of what is called a ‘refundable accommodation payment’
– a daily accommodation payment
– a combination of both
