How much will my care cost?

The Australian Government pays for the bulk of aged care in Australia, but you may be asked to contribute to the cost of your care. The amount you need to pay will vary from person to person.

We will supply you with the latest schedule of fees and accommodation charges when you make an enquiry at one of our homes, and also throughout your stay when changes occur.

The cost of your accommodation can include the following:

  • your daily care fee
  • a means-tested care fee
  • accommodation payments
  • fees for any extra services.

This covers living costs such as meals, power and laundering of bedding and towels. For some people, this is the only fee they are required to pay. This fee is set at 85% of the single pension and is indexed in March and September each year.

This charge covers your accommodation in an aged care home and varies from home to home and room to room. The charge is based on a Centrelink assessment of your income and assets. Some people will have their accommodation costs met in full or part by the Australian Government, while others will need to pay the full accommodation price agreed with the aged care home.

You can choose to make your accommodation payments as either:

  • a lump sum or what is called a ‘refundable accommodation deposit’
  • a daily accommodation payment
  • a combination of both.

Clarence Estate is our only home where a resident is able to opt in for extra services. This additional payment per day enables residents to access a range of more personalised services including a daily paper, 24hr food service, wine with their meals, weekly flower delivery and much more.

These extra services and the associated fees only refers to personal service, and does not mean that a higher level of care is provided to residents – all residents are afforded the same level of high quality care.
